In conjunction with the Tractive app, the tracker offers plenty of functions and statistics, such as the top speed of the four-legged friend being tracked and the distances covered. In addition, the integrated community functions and activity rankings can also be used to see how the animal compares with others regionally and nationally. However, some functions of the app, such as sharing with family members, are only possible with a premium subscription.
But dog health can also be monitored with additional functions in the Tractive app. The tracker collects activity data, records sleep, heart rate, breathing rate and even the dog’s barking behavior and analyzes the data statistically. However, the tracker must remain active for at least twelve hours a day for several days. Although this puts a strain on the battery, it can help detect health problems early.
The battery life of the Tractive DOG XL dog tracker is excellent: when used actively it lasts relatively exactly 15 days, and in standby mode the battery lasts up to a month. If the tracker needs to be recharged, the app issues a warning.
