XMG EVO 14 (E25) in the test: Strong processor for everyday office life and content creation
The XMG EVO 14 (E25) is powered by an AMD Ryzen AI 9 365 processor with 10 cores and 20 threads. Supported by an expandable 32 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD, the notebook delivers high performance in everyday life. Applications, multitasking and image or video editing run smoothly. The integrated AMD Radeon 880M offers solid graphics performance for multimedia or rudimentary gaming.
Three modes are available for power control. In balanced mode, the system works in a balanced and comparatively quiet manner – ideal for office work, surfing and everyday applications. Enthusiast mode increases the continuous performance of the CPU and thus offers more performance for more demanding tasks such as image or video editing without the fans becoming too prominent. In overboost mode, the notebook utilizes the maximum CPU performance, which provides additional performance, especially for computationally intensive tasks such as rendering. However, the integrated graphics hardly benefit from this, which is why this mode is usually less relevant in everyday life.
The volume of the fans increases relatively quickly under load and they are clearly audible, but remain free of annoying background noises and overall do not seem uncomfortably loud.
The 80-watt-hour battery is generous and in practice it still achieves good, but not outstanding, runtimes. When working with surfing, word processing, spreadsheets and video chat, the notebook lasts 7 hours and 25 minutes. 10 hours and 50 minutes are possible for intensive web surfing, and 10 hours and 44 minutes for video playback. After 30 minutes of charging, around 51 percent battery charge or around 5 hours and 13 minutes of running time is available.

Strong display
The XMG EVO 14 (E25) is equipped with a 14-inch IPS panel that has a resolution of 2,880 × 1,800 pixels in QHD+ and offers a refresh rate of a smooth 120 Hertz. With a peak brightness of 495 cd/m² and 487 cd/m² with a full white image, the display remains easy to read even in bright environments. The panel displays colors properly – a color space coverage of 100 percent standard RGB, 75 percent Adobe RGB and 76 percent DCI-P3 enables a pleasant display for everyday life and creative applications. However, this is not enough for professional pre-press. The matte surface reduces reflections, while the viewing angle stability is high at over 90 degrees in both directions. The device does not have HDR.

RAM: We call the built-in memory (RAM) in gigabytes. Entry-level notebooks should have at least 4 GB of RAM. Office devices require 8 GB. Gamers rely on at least 16 GB. 32 GB makes sense for image editing.

Pleasant handling and extensive features
The housing is mainly made of aluminum and appears to be of high quality and sturdy. With a weight of 1.5 kilograms, the notebook remains mobile. The display can be easily opened with one hand and unfolded up to 175 degrees. The keyboard can be illuminated in 4 brightness levels and leaves a very good impression in practice. The keys offer crisp feedback and enable a secure, precise typing experience without frequent mistyping. Only the stroke could be a little longer. The touchpad also impresses with its high quality impression.
The speakers seem balanced: highs are pleasantly tuned and sound neither shrill nor jangly, while the lows are present, even if not particularly powerful.
The connection equipment is extensive: In addition to two USB-A ports, another USB-A 2.0 port as well as 1x USB4 Type-C and 1x USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C, there is HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort output via USB-C, LAN port, audio-microphone combination socket and a full-size card reader. The notebook works wirelessly with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4. The webcam offers Full HD resolution with IR face detection and has a physical cover.
The scope of delivery includes a 150 W USB-C power supply, a 64 GB USB driver stick and a magnetic USB-C charging adapter that works similarly to a MagSafe plug. However, this is primarily suitable for stationary use, as the magnet comes off very easily and disconnects when the notebook is lifted.
