Samsung’s next One UI update is delayed again. For many Galaxy users, a stable release may not be realistic until the end of March.
Samsung joins in One UI 8.5 hardly any progress. Three months after the start of the first beta, the software is stuck and there is no date for the stable version. Evidence from the development process so far suggests that the final rollout could not begin until the end of March at the earliest, as the English-language technology blog “SammyFans” reported.
One UI 8.5 could build on Samsung’s tough predecessor cycle
Already One UI 7 based on Android 15 was marked by delays. Although the Galaxy S25 series was launched in January 2025, the stable version of the Surface did not reach many models until April.
With One UI 8.5, Samsung is bringing a major function update that delivers new features without users having to switch to the very latest Android version. The test version already runs on Android 16, but one of the beta versions was delayed by about a month.

One UI 8.5: Galaxy S26 already starts with the latest version
The Galaxy S26 is already expected to ship with the stable One UI 8.5 version, while other Galaxy models could receive the update later. It is unclear when older devices will receive the finished update.
The worldwide launch is on March 11th Galaxy S26-row, which loudly “SammyFans” would offer as a stage for a broader rollout. However, based on Samsung’s usual testing and release schedules, it can be assumed that the final version could probably appear towards the end of March.
