Almost two years after the original announcement, Waze has now completed the global rollout of its new alert systems.
The Google subsidiary is currently informing via email about the comprehensive rollout of five central functions. From now on it offers Waze app a proactive warning of speed bumps, toll booths and dangerous curves along the planned route.
The new notice of upcoming speed limits is particularly practical in everyday life. The system shows speed limits before you reach the corresponding zone, which means you can avoid unnecessary fines due to late braking.
Navigation in roundabouts has also been significantly improved. Waze now provides precise information about which lane to use for the selected exit. In North America and some European countries, the app also warns of emergency vehicles on the side of the road.
These real-time warnings are intended to help prevent accidents at emergency scenes. Another update concerns route planning: The app takes your personal preferences for certain sections of the route into account and will suggest these preferred routes more frequently in the future, provided there are no significant losses of time due to traffic jams.

The fact that many users may already be familiar with these functions is due to the extremely slow introduction. Waze officially presented the entire package in March 2024. In the past few months, the features have occasionally become visible to the first users. The current information campaign now suggests that the testing phase for the general public has been completed.
It remains unclear why it took almost two years to implement such comparatively simple warnings. However, it appears that Google is currently investing more resources into integrating Maps and Waze data.
Just check your app settings in the coming days. The functions are activated on the server side as soon as the update is available on your smartphone. Manual activation is usually not necessary.
