Making delicious coffee is of course the main task of a good machine. But the taste alone is not enough for us. Those who own a fully automatic coffee machine also want a lot of convenience. That’s why we also attach great importance to the equipment, handling and how easy the machine is to clean.
Taste and reference (25%): For the taste test, a trained coffee sommelier evaluates the taste of the espresso. Characteristics such as taste balance, acidity and body are taken into account in the evaluation. Furthermore, the temperature and the entire reference time are included in this rating, i.e. including the warm-up time.
Maintenance (25%): If you buy a fully automatic coffee machine, you have to clean it constantly. We check how annoying cleaning is. Some machines, for example, happily distribute coffee powder throughout the interior, or dump dripping wet pomace into the collecting container – both recipes for quick, disgusting mold growth.
Comfort (25%): An easy-to-use fully automatic coffee machine has intuitive buttons and a guest can understand at first glance how to get their latte macchiato. It also uses little energy when idle and grinds so quietly that no one wakes up. Here we also evaluate which aspects (water, temperature, etc.) can be adjusted.
Equipment (25%): This is where fully automatic machines shine compared to other models. We evaluate all convenience features, from the recipes to the storage spaces to the size of the containers and the quality of the display.
