The case offers a large 2.5-inch touch display on the back and a 1.46-inch front display, which is particularly useful for vlogs and self-recordings. The operation is intuitive, menus react quickly and are easy to use even with wet fingers.
Like its predecessor, the DJI Osmo Action 6 is waterproof up to 20 meters without an additional housing, and even up to 60 meters with an optional protective case. The housing appears to be of high quality and can easily withstand rough use. At 146 grams, the weight remains identical to its predecessor; when ready for installation, the camera weighs 160 grams.
The extensive connectivity with Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth, USB-C and webcam function is also positive. Although there is no classic tripod thread directly on the housing, other mounts can be quickly and easily attached using the magnetic locking holder, for example those for GoPro accessories or a tripod adapter.
The action cam performed particularly well in the battery test discipline. The 1,950 mAh battery lasts exactly 84 minutes when filming in the highest resolution; in a more practical comparison with UHD resolution, the camera even manages 182 minutes. That’s a little shorter than the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro’s phenomenal 194 minutes, but it’s still outstanding. The short charging time of less than an hour rounds off the positive impression.
