iPhone updates are causing problems in Australia. Users cannot currently make phone calls with some older models.
Apple has recently released several iOS versions including iOS 26.2.1 and iOS 16.7.13. iPhones in Australia experienced connection problems, according to the English-language technology news site “9to5Mac” reports. Older devices are particularly affected.
Older iPhones cannot reach emergency numbers in Australia
Telstra, Australia’s largest telecommunications company, is investigating the incident alongside Apple. Calls to the Australian emergency number 000 sometimes do not work, as shown a report of the company. iPhone-Users have been asked to postpone updates for now.
According to Telstra, these devices could be affected by this issue:
- iPhone 8 with iOS 16.7.13
- iPhone 8 Plus with iOS 16.7.13
- iPhone X with iOS 16.7.13

Apple is investigating connection issues and stopping some iPhone updates
Apple stopped releasing some updates for older iPhone models worldwide, according to 9to5Mac. Affected versions include iOS 18.7.4, iOS 16.7.13, iOS 15.8.6 and iOS 12.5.8.
Since these versions do not contain any security fixes, the break hardly causes any disadvantages for users. This way Apple can first check and fix the connection problems.
