The RUF Glücklichmacher are doing a lot of advertising during the RTL jungle camp. We once again stirred the mug cakes into our editorial cups and revealed how they fared in practical tests and comparisons. With surprising results.
These days it is “Jungle camp“, formally known as “I’m a star, get me out of here”, is also a big topic in our editorial team: some reject it, others discuss the latest events every day. But everyone agrees: There really isn’t a need for advertising in the linear program. Especially since its end is as predictable as a jungle test between the screaming candidate and Ariel: with Bruce Darnell, who raves about the RUF Glücklichmacher mug cake.
So that you and other jungle fans don’t misguidedly flock to the supermarket, two of our editors, Fabian and Tobias, bought two of the supposed “happiness makers” and used them in the editorial kitchen with the branded product from Dr. Oetker compared. Five-star meal or disgust test?
Mug cake in the comparison test
For the comparison test, we each took two mug cakes from the jungle sponsor RUF and the brand competitor Dr. Oetker worried. While this is happening price-wise placed on the receipt at 1.19 euros per pack, the counterpart from RUF is a little cheaper at 0.89 euros.
The preparation is almost identical. Stir in the powder into the cup, five tablespoons of milk and then microwave for 50 or 90 seconds. Here, all four cakes pose no problems for unqualified editors, even amateur chefs.
At the Taste test However, we make a fairly clear judgment. Because despite the higher price, the mug cakes from Dr. Oetker not only looks a little further away from a cake, but in other respects they also look more like their own product category. The varieties “Schoketto” and “Schokino” – i.e. light cakes with chocolate pieces – are particularly successful with the RUF Glücklichmacher. With Dr. Oetker lacks flavor and also a bit of bite. The chocolate cake, on the other hand, is okay, but RUF’s “Hazelnut” version, with crunchy nut pieces even after “baking”, is clearly ahead.
In fact, RUF’s mug cake also wins ingredients against the test competitor. For the two light cakes, Dr. Oetker uses egg protein, whereas RUF uses almond protein. At least that makes the baking mix on the packaging paper vegan. When it comes to calories and sugar, the cakes are close together and, with around 25 grams of sugar per 100 grams, they are far from a diet snack. However, RUF is at a slight disadvantage when it comes to fat content and protein.
Conclusion: Far from healthy, but delicious
In the practical test, the RUF mug cake can fulfill its promise from the jungle camp advertising and even has the upper hand over the slightly more expensive branded product from Dr. Oetker.
