The CHIP test center has subjected all walking pads to an accurate, standardized and independent test. The overall grade is made up of three individual grades:
Training & operation (50 percent): A large and a small test person each test for four hours to see how comfortable it is to train with the walking pad. This includes shock absorption, speed setting accuracy, slip resistance and start/stop behavior. We also evaluate how well settings can be changed with the remote control during training. There are plus points for walking pads that can be set up quickly and stored away again after training. Each walking pad was also connected to a power meter during training.
Volume (30 percent): Ideally, walking pads remain quiet even under stress so as not to disturb family members, roommates or colleagues. We checked the noise level subjectively using a sound level meter positioned at ear level. We trained on carpet and hard floors, with and without shoes. We also checked for annoying vibrations.
Equipment (20 percent): We positively rate walking pads with high-quality workmanship and yet not too heavy a construction. We award points for a particularly wide treadmill that is stretched securely and without slipping. Ideally, the device can not only be controlled via remote control and display, but also connected to an app via Bluetooth.
