The various models of true wireless in-ear headphones are tested in the CHIP test center. They have to convince in the categories of sound quality, mobility as well as comfort and features.
The sound makes up the largest part of the overall grade, namely 40 percent. In the test, we stream music in maximum quality via Spotify while the headphones are connected to a smartphone via Bluetooth. This is a practical test scenario in which we evaluate exclusively subjectively. Two testers evaluate the clarity and naturalness of the sound, the bass character and the vocal presentation. There are extra points for active noise cancellation (ANC).
The category contributes 30 percent mobility contributes to the overall ranking. Here the CHIP testers check the battery life of the headphones and the total running time including the battery case as well as the charging time and Bluetooth range. It is also relevant whether the case can be charged wirelessly.
To the category Comfort and facilitieswhich also counts for 30 percent of the overall grade, includes features such as automatic switching on and off, noise canceling, the available control functions and wireless standards. On the other hand, the CHIP editors subjectively assess the firm and comfortable fit of the headphones in the practical test.
