At the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Motorola showed off two new phones and announced an exciting partnership with GrapheneOS.
The Razr Fold As Motorola’s first foldable in a wide “book format”, it now complements the vertical folding cell phones. The Lenovo subsidiary brand had already presented the device at the CES trade fair in Las Vegas, and we were now able to try it out ourselves at the MWC in Barcelona.
The folding mechanism appears to be of high quality, as you would expect from other manufacturers, and the design impresses with its very thin display edges. When closed, it looks like a normal smartphone and offers a 6.6-inch OLED external display with a refresh rate of up to 165 Hz, protected by Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3. When opened, a large 8.09-inch internal display with up to 120 Hz is revealed. It is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, a high-end chip, but not that strongest processor from Qualcomm. There is also 16 GB of RAM.
Motorola is primarily promoting the camera system, which, according to the benchmark website Dxomark, is said to be “the best in a folding phone to date”. It includes three 50 MP sensors. The main Sony sensor and the telephoto zoom lens for 3x optical zoom come with optical image stabilization (OIS). There is also an ultra wide-angle camera.
According to Motorola, the battery is also said to be the largest in a folding cell phone to date at 6,000 mAh – but another manufacturer has already surpassed this superlative just a few trade fair stands away: Honor has it in its new Magic V6 a 6,600 mAh battery installed.
A highlight: The cell phone should receive Android upgrades and security updates for seven years. According to Motorola, the price starts at 1,999 euros including the Moto Pen Ultra stylus. There is also a special 2026 World Cup edition for an impressive 2,599 euros. As “lasting keepsake for fans” You get a FIFA logo printed in 24 carat gold on the back – and a ticket for the World Cup. From April 13th The Razr Fold can be pre-ordered via Motorola’s website, an exact release date is not yet known.
Motorola Edge 70 Fusion: Mid-range with a large battery
The Motorola Edge 70 Fusion, which was also presented, contains the mid-range Snapdragon 7s Gen3 chip. The cell phone offers 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage space. A special feature here is the “Quad Curve” front glass, which is rounded on four sides and protects the 144 Hz AMOLED screen.
The smartphone is from now on available from Motorola. Those interested in buying can choose between two battery variants, although it is really questionable who will choose the weaker version: For 419 euros there is a 5,200 mAh battery and for just 10 euros more there is a 7,000 mAh battery.
There is also a FIFA World Cup 2026 edition for 499 euros, this time including the Moto Buds Bass in-ear headphones – but this is a model from 2025 worth 60 euros. Unfortunately, there is no bundle for the newly introduced Moto Buds 2 Plus (see video).

Android even without Google: GrapheneOS partnership announced
Motorola has also partnered with the secure and privacy-focused Android alternative “GrapheneOS” announced. This means that the Google-free operating system can also be installed on Motorola smartphones. However, more precise details, such as the supported devices, have not yet been announced. It is therefore unclear whether this will also include the new Razr Fold. Google has recently made the development of so-called custom ROMs such as GrapheneOS much more difficult, which presented the organization, which is mainly financed by donations, with new challenges.
