Naira Diary Unveils Theme For Naira Diary Impact Awards 2022

The Publishers of Naira Diary Blog has unveiled the theme of their maiden edition of Naira Diary Awards (NDI Awards).
In the press release signed by the made available to us, the convener of Naira Diary Awards announced that the theme for this year’s Naira Diary Impact Awards (NDI Awards) is “THE HEROES.”
According to them, “As a blog, Naira Diary has painstakingly given a voice to the voiceless, promoted businesses and events, and led conversations in areas of national development within Nigeria. However, with NDI Awards 2022, this news and entertainment blog is looking to take it to the next level.
“The Heroes is an ideation that most people, especially kids, love. This likeness directly impacts the sale and success of movies with heroes as the central characters in the box office. Often times, kids try to emulate the things these heroes do in such movies, a majority of which are sacrificing and constantly saving the world. The real import of this analogy is the recognition that heroes do things that benefit the society, and so are needed.
“Within a general sense, heroes refer to a group of extraordinary human beings worth recognizing and celebrating. However, “heroes” becomes more than just a word or working title when we move past the lexical notion of it, to mean a word which at its sincerest, includes sustained impacting, with or without an audience in mind. Also, it is about giving; efforts, time, and resources, all of which are purposely directed towards uplifting and improving people and society.
“The Heroes as a project, was started with the sole aim of appreciating real life heroes and their ‘heroic’ actions. In a society like ours, this project recognizes that there are heroes, and that not all of these heroes wear capes. And so, this award project aims to recognize and celebrate these people, groups, and entities who have contributed to bettering lives and making society better.
Part of the plan is not to only recognize and appreciate, but to also publicize the works of such individuals, organizations, and entities. Nevertheless, this project acknowledges that there is still so much to do in terms of making a society like ours accept and celebrate heroes.
“A portion of what Heroes the project seeks to achieve is to reinstate the mindset that we need more heroes, and in addition to recognizing and appreciating these heroes, this award would also highlight the works of such individuals, groups, and entities. The objective behind this is to motivate them to do more, and through them, inspire new crops of impact-driven people across society.
“Like most award projects, Heroes would rely on public nomination for its entries. What this means is that the public would be allowed to nominate and subsequently vote for candidates.
“The nomination period is expected to last for four weeks, then followed by a grand finale that would include virtual and in-person voting. In addition, the selection process would involve a jury whose primary function is to properly access the nominated individuals and to compile the list of nominees at the end of the voting period.
To promote fairness and transparency, this award project intends to thoroughly access all nominated candidates through an assessment timeline of 12 to 14 months, while paying close attention to what these nominees have done within the period under assessment. In addition, each award category would have its individual eligibility criteria.
