
Samsung is renaming its well-known internet browser. It now appears under a different name on new smartphones.
The Android-Web browser from Samsung will have a new name in the future. Instead of “Samsung Internet”, the app is now called “Samsung Browser”. The change first appeared in a recent version of the application available on devices Samsung Galaxy S26 series was tested.
However, the previous name will still be displayed on older smartphones and in app stores. This suggests that the renaming will initially only be available on newer devices with current software, reports “Android Authority“.
New AI feature in Samsung browser
With the update, Samsung is also introducing a new AI feature called “Ask AI”. This allows users to ask questions about open websites or have content analyzed directly in the browser. The feature is reminiscent of AI-powered browser solutions such as the Comet Browser developed by Perplexity AI.
However, the feature is currently only available in a few regions, including the USA and South Korea.

In addition to the renaming and the AI function, the new version also brings additional security functions. In the future, the browser will be able to warn users when they access potentially harmful websites, reports “Android Authority”.
The app icon has also been revised: it looks more colorful and modern than before. Samsung has not yet announced when the new name and functions will appear on other devices.
