Firefox is responding to many users’ AI skepticism. With version 148, Mozilla is introducing a central shutdown function for all AI features.
With Firefox 148, Mozilla is adding a separate area for AI controls to the browser settings. There, users can manage individual AI functions or completely deactivate all current and future AI tools using a master switch, reports “Android Authority“.
Firefox: These functions can be switched off
The launch includes, among other things, automatic translations, AI-generated alternative text in PDFs, AI-supported tab grouping, link previews and the sidebar chatbot. If the blocking is activated, Firefox also prevents notifications of new AI functions.

The new settings will initially appear in Firefox Nightly and will be rolled out regularly with Firefox 148 from February 24th. The selected preferences are retained even during updates and can be adjusted at any time, it is said in a press release.
